Frames

Start with a shape. Then touch the material.

No logos on the wall. We sort frames by outline and by what they're made of, so you can describe what you want in plain words and we'll bring pairs to try.

Eight shapes

The outlines we keep on the wall

  1. Wire or acetate

    Round

Soft outline, thin wire or thick acetate. It balances a strong jaw and a square brow.

  2. Acetate or metal

    Rectangle

A level top and a gentle drop. The shape that works at a desk and on a stage.

  3. Acetate

    Square

Sharp corners and a firm line. It frames a rounder face and keeps its place on a busy day.

  4. Any material

    Oval

Between round and rectangle, and the easiest first pair to live in. Nothing to get used to.

  5. Acetate or mixed

    Cat-eye

Lifted at the outer corners. It adds a line across the cheekbone and a little attitude.

  6. Thin metal

    Teardrop

Wide at the top and narrow at the bottom, in thin metal. Light on the nose.

  7. Mixed

    Browline

A heavy bar across the brow and a lighter rim below. Works with short and long hair alike.

  8. Metal or acetate

    Geometric

Six sides or eight, a pentagon or a hexagon. For a face that likes an edge.

Six materials

What the frame is made of

The material decides the weight, the color and how far we can adjust the fit.

  • Acetate

A cellulose sheet cut, shaped and polished. It takes deep color and tortoiseshell patterns, and it can be adjusted when warm.

  • Thin wire metal

Fine rims that disappear on the face. Easy to fine-tune at the nose and temples.

  • Titanium

Very light and made without nickel, for anyone whose skin reacts to metal. Springy, and it holds its shape.

  • Mixed metal and acetate

An acetate front on metal temples, or the other way round. Strong color with a lighter arm.

  • Semi-rimless

A rim across the top only, and the lens held below by a thin cord. The lightest look with a visible line.

  • Bio-based plastics

Frames molded from plant-derived plastics. Flexible and light, in a smaller range of colors.

Choosing with your prescription

A strong prescription changes what suits you

Lenses get thicker toward the edge as the prescription gets stronger. A smaller, rounder frame hides that, and a wide one shows it.

Your prescription is yours. We give you a copy after your exam and fitting, and you can fill it anywhere.

  • Tell us your prescription and we steer the shapes

  • Try three or four pairs, not forty

  • We check the thickness before you commit
