Bring a prescription

Any prescription, from any doctor

You don't need to have your exam here to buy your glasses here. Hand us the prescription and we do the rest.

Your prescription is yours. We give you a copy after your exam and fitting, and you can fill it anywhere. We check that it is complete and current, and if it's not, we tell you plainly what the next step is.

  • Paper, a photo or a patient-portal download

  • From your doctor at home or a clinic across the country

  • Current glasses are a useful starting point

A fitting, step by step

How we fit your prescription

  1. 01

Step 1: Hand us the prescription

On paper or on your phone, with your current glasses if you have them. We check that it is complete and current, and read it with you.

  2. 02

    Step 2: Pick frames

Choose by shape and material. We bring pairs that suit your prescription and your face.

  3. 03

Step 3: Measure and choose lenses

We measure where each lens sits in front of each eye, then go through lens material and coatings.

  4. 04

Step 4: Fit and adjust at pickup

We shape the frame to your face and check what you see through it. Come back for a tune-up anytime.

Before you bring it

How old can my prescription be?

A glasses prescription has an expiration date printed on it, often one to two years out. If yours has passed, we can book an eye exam.

What if I only have my old glasses?

We can read what's in them, but that isn't a prescription. An eye exam gives you a current one, and a copy to keep.

Can I bring my own frames?

Often, yes. We check that the frame can hold the new lenses and fit well. We tell you before we cut anything.

Do you fill contact lens prescriptions from other offices?

A contact lens prescription from another office is checked with the prescriber first, as the law asks. If the prescriber can't confirm it, we tell you the next step.

Is my prescription from another country usable?

Bring it and we'll tell you honestly. If it can't be used as written, an eye exam is the better first step.

Bring it in

Walk in with a prescription, or book a fitting and we'll set aside the time.
