Questions and answers
Do I need an eye exam if I see fine?
Many eye problems start without any change in how you see. The exam checks the health of the eye as well as the prescription.
How often should I have an exam?
The doctor tells you at the visit. Many adults come every year or two, and sooner if something changes.
Can I fill my prescription here if my exam was elsewhere?
Yes. Bring it and we fit lenses to it. You never have to have your exam here to buy glasses here.
Do I get a copy of my prescription?
Always. Your prescription is yours. We give you a copy after your exam and fitting, and you can fill it anywhere.
What's the difference between vision insurance and medical insurance?
A vision plan pays for the routine exam and an eyewear benefit. Medical insurance pays when the visit is about an eye problem or an eye disease.
Why is part of my visit billed to medical insurance?
If the doctor finds or follows an eye problem, that part of the visit is medical, even when you came for a routine exam. We explain it before you pay.
What do I bring to a fitting?
Your prescription and your current glasses. A photo of a frame you like helps.
Can I wear contact lenses?
Often, yes. A contact lens exam and fitting come first, and the doctor explains the risks.
How do I find out what it will cost?
Ask when you book. We give a written estimate before you decide.
