Comprehensive exams

Eye exams, explained as they happen

Dr. Sumpter checks how you see and how your eyes are doing, and talks through each result while you're still in the chair.

  • A current prescription, and a copy of it to keep

  • A look at the front and back of each eye

  • Time to ask about screens, headaches and tired eyes

Billing and what to bring

  • How it's billed

A routine exam is billed to your vision plan. A visit for an eye problem goes to medical insurance. We check which applies before you come.

  • What to bring

    • Your current glasses and contact lenses

    • Your insurance cards

    • A list of the medicines you take

    • Your questions

About the exam

Do I need an exam if I see fine?

Many eye problems start without any change in how you see. The exam checks the health of the eye, not only the prescription.

How often should I have one?

The doctor tells you at the visit. Many adults come every year or two, and sooner if something changes.

Can I see the doctor if I've never been here?

Yes. Book a first visit and bring your current glasses.
